The Peace Alliance Working groups
Small working groups are the fundamental active agents of the Chico Peace Alliance. They each consist of a small number of people committed to working on one area of peace and justice work, to selecting specific issues, educating one another, and creating action projects. They typically meet at least once a month and bring reports to the general meeting. Click on the links to learn about the groups' most recent work.
War and Militarism
This group is exploring the intersections of local, regional and international armed conflict prevention and resolution, and see what our work can be to find better ways to live together on this earth. We're looking at the arms trade, gun violence, militarization of policing and foreign policy, nuclear weapons, the costs of war (including environmental), and at the role of racism, neo-colonialism/imperialism, and fossil-fuel addiction as interrelated drivers of war.

Coalition Building and Communication
The CCWG working group will make contact with other Peace and Justice Groups and will coordinate communications from the Peace Alliance through tabling, the newsletter and web, the media, and so on.
Peace Education
The Peace Education Work Group aims to establish and/or support peace culture in our schools and prisons, through such programs as empathy training, Alternatives to Violence, equity, anti-bullying curricula, restorative justice, peace art, as well as identifying scholarship programs and other resources that can provide alternatives to military recruitment.
