OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEACEMAKING FORUM
Sunday, September 18th, 1-3 pm
Quaker Meetinghouse
16th and Hemlock Streets.
Please mark your calendars for a public event at Chico Friends Meetinghouse on Sunday, September 18th, 1:00-3:00PM. The Opportunities for Peacemaking Forum features brief presentations from the Chico Legislative Advocacy Team (Loree Monroe), Chico Peace Alliance (Laurel Yorks), and liaisons from Friends Committee on National Legislation* (Tom Head) and the Friends Committee on Legislation of California (Claudia Hanson).
The broader Chico community is invited to hear about these opportunities for participating in or supporting peacemaking at the local, state and national level. There will be tables with information about these featured groups and materials for sending letters or postcards to our state and national legislators on select issues. Hope to see you there!
*Friends Committee on National Legislation (www.fcnl.org) is a non-partisan Quaker organization based in Washington, D.C. since 1943 that lobbies our government to advance peace, justice, and environmental stewardship and includes people of all faiths and none; Friends Committee on Legislation of California (www.fclca.org), based in Sacramento, has been doing similar work in California since 1952; Chico FCNL Advocacy Team is one of more than 125 local groups across the U.S. working on ending U.S. support for the Saudi-led war in Yemen; and Witness and Service Committee is providing logistical and other support.
